Tolga Detention Centre

Another chapter of my Australian Adventure that has to be closed is obviously the Tolga Detention Centre time which I served to the last day.

I have done my time, even more than I thought I would. 21 weeks for crimes I didn't commit. :) But what a hell of a time I had there is completely different story.

The farm days are over, the farm days are gone!

This blog was crying for updated for long time now. Many things has changed since my last post, pretty much everything has changed. So it is time to close some chapters with a nice posts and pictures and maybe videos.

First of all I am no longer a farmer, yes I quit my farming career to look for new challenges in this crazy country. But I have to say that I had an absolutely amazing time on the farm. Met a lot of awesome people and made good friends.

I learnt how to grow bananas and how to go bananas too :)

Well for last couple of days I was putting together this video. For most of you, working on the banana farm is abstract concept so I think watching this video might help you picture it a bit better. Hopefully :)

Enjoy!

Next updates are coming!

Life in the Paddock

Hey everyone! I am back!

It took me some time because now I live a life of a farmer :) Living in the remote place, far away from civilization and growing bananas and from time to time going bananas as well :)

You might ask, what the hell are you doing there? Well, as you might know or don't know. I am in Australia on working holiday visa which can be extended for another 12 months once I complete 3 months of farm work. which in total will give me a 24 months in Australia. Plenty of time to figure out the way to stay here permanently. So this is what I am doing!

First days in Cairns, Queensland

Finally I have arrived to Cairns. The journey went really fast and without any problems. I believe that Chivas Regal served with coke (yes I said it with coke you whiskey lovers! :) made my trip more enjoyable.

So after goodbyes on the airport I went on my second journey to OZ. First I was heading to London where I embarked Qantas Flight to Hong Kong.

This is all I have now :) and I mean it - that's all my belongings - everything else is either sold or will be sold :) I have a working PC if you are interested for like 50 euro or so :) with monitor. If interested just drop me an email. :)

Australia - Take 2

Last year about the same time I was leaving Australia and was moving to New Zealand for an awesome 9 months.
This year it is time to move to Australia again, but this time for longer than 3 months!
I got 1 year work and holiday visa and my first stop in OZ is Cairns. Place where we left our campervan last time.

My plan is to find some work over there and get some cash for further travels. Maybe I will pick some bananas or maybe will go to work on the farm. Who knows. Will figure out once I get there.
One thing is certain for now. I am flying out on Sunday afternoon for a journey of +15000km.

so stay put because you will hear from me soon :)

Warning for people travelling to Poland

My wonder around the world put me back to Poland for a short period of time before moving on. I arrived to Katowice and as a frequent traveler I have spotted a very bad practice which takes place at the airport.

I want just warn you all who want to exchange money over there. And I know you might say that "oh yeah no big deal, airports always rip you off when you exchange the currency" but I have to say that what I have seen is just ridiculous!

Current exchange rate is around 4.17 and usually you can expect about 5% markup to buy and sell. I was offered to buy polish zloty for 3.26 !!! its around 25% off the average market price!!! It is a plain rip off!!

And the best thing is that, you can easily negotiate much much higher rate, but if you don't ask you wont get it!

Now when I think about it, we had European Championship hosted in the country and few millions football fans flew through polish airports. Wondering now how many of them were ripped off like that.

So useful tip - check the currency rate before you go and make sure you get fair amount of PLN for your dollars and euros! Because we (Polish) are cheeky bastards!
