We have 2012 already! This is it! I had the pleasure to celebrate New Years as a one of the first ones on the globe! Just after Samoa, New Zealand and Sydney. Surprisingly this year Samoa was the first country to celebrate New Years as their government decided to cancel the 29th of December :) That's the ultimate power! (thanks Liam for the first hand info! ;P)
Yes, so while you were still having lunches, finishing late breakfast or brunches, I was actually enjoying a sake with some dumplings, then just before midnight we've crashed some Surf Club New Years party with free beer and food and we've enjoyed a fine fireworks over the Brisbane River!
Actually I've cured my hangover before you have started to drink! What I've realized is I'm writing to you from the future!!! What an advantage! Ok so what do you want to know? :)
Day before the New years eve we had a chance to explore the city a bit. We took the cheapest cruise ever! $4.6 for a 2h ride on the Brisbane River. We put our foot into man made lagoon on the South Bank and we had a wander around the city, visiting main streets, china town, new farm and also we had some spare time to see Brisbane panorama from Mt Cootha.
It's a beautiful city filled with restaurants and bars. On our street we had restaurants from at least half of the world. You could pick from Chinese to Himalayan, Thai, Greek, Italian and Mexican. If you like food this place is for you!
At the time of writing I'm in Bundaberg, 400km north of Brisbane as we are heading towards Whitsunday's our next big and exciting stop. At the moment we have over 2000 km behind us and another 1400 ahead. Lots of driving but I'll try to post as much as possible!!
All the best! and see you soon!
