After a night in Mackay we finally arrived to Airlie Beach. Gateway town to Whitsunday's Islands. All the trips and excursions to the islands are going from here. It is a lovely little town with some cafes, bars, restaurants and lots of travel agents. Every second shop was a travel agent selling variety of trips and excursions in the area. Sailing, Snorkeling, Scuba diving, helicopter and seaplane flights and more. You can experience Islands in million different ways.
Back in Byron Bay we have chosen our trip. We decided to take a 2 days and 2 nights on Boomerang - sailing boat which was one of the fastest boats back in the early 2000s. I might pop a link in here ;) will see. We only had to bring our drinks. Six pack of XXXX Gold seamed to be a perfect choice for this trip. Skipper set the sails and off we went. One of the reasons we've chosen that boat was experience of sailing. Yes we had to do something on it. Setting the sails, and balancing the boat and stuff like that. Great fun, one thing makes that kind of adventures successful - it must be windy, otherwise you will be just cruising on the flat waters :)
On top of our sailing we got some snorkeling time which was absolutely amazing ;) from big to small fish from little Nemo (very aggressive fish as it turned out) to sharks and sting rays. Some of us had a scuba diving time and of course we've all went to see the Whitheaven beach! The one on every post card from Australia. :)
Other that that we had some good time on that boat. Met few people and made some friends. Even sleeping was good, bit of rocking actually helped to fall a sleep, but bed bunks gave me some claustrophobic reactions. I had to keep my face out of the bunk to get fresh air :) Otherwise I felt like couldn't breathe.
Also on the boat we met two yellow ducks from Switzerland on the adventure in OZ, even we had a some photos taken together :) There is more about them here.
So after two nights of a good fun, we finally got back to the Airlie Beach and after few bye byes we hit the road again!
Next destination Townsville and Magnetic Island.
ciao!
