In the morning we have left Frankston B'n'B and hit the road again. This time Great Ocean Road was on the map as a next destination. It's about 260km long coastal road. A big tourist attraction with few highlights which we wanted to see.
Main point of the trip of course are iconic 12 Apostles. One of the must see places in Melbourne and maybe Australia. We planned the trip to see it when the sun goes down and it looked impressive!! Of course we had to jump the fence to the prohibited areas due to large numbers of people on the lookout to get good photos. We were risking our life but it was worth it! I'll do everything for a good photo :)
Other thing you can see in this area, are Koalas in the wild!! yes, finally we've seen Koalas in their natural environment, hugging to the trees, sleeping most of the day and some times eating or scratching. They have a great life, lazy bastards! :) If you want see them, look for Kenneth River and turn inland in the center of the village (I know village is a very strong word for shop and a campsite). After 500m just look up :) and you will see this:
Other than that you have here nice surfing beaches, ie. Torquay with Bells Beach, most famous surfing beach in Australia. And of course plenty of lookouts and scenic routes and walks. Pretty little towns like Apollo Bay or Lorna with beaches bars and restaurants. That was the first time when we encountered larger numbers of tourist since Brisbane.
It's a lovely coast to explore, it has plenty to see and do. We've heard that there is a golf course with about 1000 Kangaroos living there, but we didn't have enough time to visit all of it. We've done another trip of nearly 1000km :)
Here in Victoria and Melbourne sea is much more colder and refreshing than up north. And most importantly you can swim without stinger suits! :)
We've done the Great Ocean Road, now it's time for exploring Melbourne and Australian Open!!
