Mount Tamborine - Camp in the forest

Just sitting in front of the fire in Tamborine Mountains, all of my friends went to bed and I've stayed here, minding the fire, last few bits of it. True camp experience. We are in the woods this time. There is a small river near by with few rock pools, where we had a swim earlier this afternoon. Nice and refreshing water, and most important fresh water, such a difference after few weeks of ocean.

We are staying here just for one night. Tomorrow probably we will go for morning swim and then we will explore local flora and fauna. There is a lot of walks and treks around. We also might go for the sky walk, in the crown of the trees just near by our camp. Who knows. In those mountains there is a restaurant called "Polish Place" so we might pop in for pierogi :) (and make our Xmas eve dinner complete :p )

One more thing I have to mention about this camp site, it's fully booked. Lots of fires around, people playing guitars and having a meal. In such places like this you actually see how popular camping is in Australia. People here like living outside. But main thing is they love eating outside, hence all those outdoor BBQ's. They always bring their own food, home made for the picnic. Maybe that's why you wont see here food stalls with crap food all around parks and beaches. I like that, fewer temptations around, leaner and better your diet become. Also all the public parks and beaches are alcohol free. Of course, if you want to drink on the beach you will, but there are some fines available if you want to do that :D question is now, are they enforced? who knows... I've seen lots of drunk people around those places anyway.

Ok going back to the Mountains, actually to the sky above me :) It's just amazing. I'll try to capture what I'm seeing now but the view is absolutely amazing. Very little light around so sky is pitch black and stars are shining like never before. It's going to be very nice day tomorrow, that's for sure. So far we had great weather despite some bad forecast. Actually at the moment there is a Cyclone up north near Darwin, so we are hoping that it will die out before we get there. And down south in NSW there is a storm. So from my point of view, we are blessed with the blue sky's :)

Ok, that's it for now, going back star gazing! Have a good night! And see you soon.

"The fire is slowly dying... let it snow let it snow let it snow" Merry Xmas everyone! :)

next day update...

We've decided to spend this afternoon in the mountains, the weather was great so we stayed here to enjoy the views. First thing in the morning we went back to the rock pools, as they weren't that busy. We looked at few nutters jumping off the cliff to the water. Then we went for a small stroll on Gallery Walk where all sort of people were selling their merchandise. After a refreshing coffee we went for a Witch Circuit Trek. We've enjoyed views of the valley and yellow Lamborgini parked near by. Once we got to the look out we saw a huge storm coming, we made our way to exit quite quickly. As it turned out later we were damn right to do so. Huge hail storm rolled over through the valley!!

We've managed to get to the Polish Place just in time! yes we got there to check that place out. It's styled for mountain house like in Tatry. We presume that one of the owner was from there. Waitresses were wearing some folk costumes and place was decorated with cattle bells and pictures of cocks. The best thing about this place was absolutely amazing view of the valley and lots of parrots! Pictures to follow! Food was quite good. Once we got there, the smell from the kitchen was very familiar and reminded me home back in poland! Great start! Now back to food as I'm wearing my food critic hat now. My bigos with sausage was very good, portion very solid and delicious. Liam's golonko according to him was quite good but bit small. Girls ordered pierogi (one with meat and second with mushrooms and sauerkraut). Tasted very good however we expected slightly bigger portions for the price we paid. Bottle of Zywiec cost $11 (I don't know why, to determine whether restaurant is cheap or expensive, I compare prices of alcohol :)). Overall food was good and expensive however worth it for the view and setting of that place.

After that meal we finally fulfilled out X-mass dinner cravings and we drove towards our next stop. Sunshine coast!

See ya soon!
